We are pleased to announce the prestigious scores awarded to our wines by the Falstaff Trophy, the major wine competition organized by Falstaff, Austria’s leading wine, food and lifestyle magazine.
The award-winning wines were:
Nitrito Valdarno di Sopra DOC Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 – 97/100
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Nitrito is a refined and refined wine with a dark and intense ruby red color. Ideal for pairing with meats and game dishes, the nose has a pleasant balsamic note that intersects with hints of blackberry and blueberry, and then flows into an elegant spiciness of clove, pepper and anise.
Alessandro from Borro Valdarno di Sopra DOC Syrah 2018 – 96/100
The Alessandro dal Borro is a monovarietal Syrah from a single grape variety, resulting in a unique, noble, full-bodied wine with a distinct bouquet and taste. After vinification in steel vats and aging for 24 months in oak barrels, the wine’s profile is that of an important red with a purple-red color with violet hues. Hints of black and red fruits on the nose, followed by hints of underbrush and a spicy finish enriched by a balsamic hint.
Polissena Valdarno di Sopra DOC Sangiovese Vigna Polissena 2019 – 95/100
A 100% Sangiovese, Polissena is an elegant and intense structured red. The nose opens with hints of morello cherry and peony, continuing with hints of sandalwood and juniper, followed by black pepper, licorice and rhubarb. Balanced on the palate with elegant tannins and a finish that leaves the mouth perfectly clean, Polissena is ideal with Tuscan meat crostini specialties, aged cheeses, sliced meats, pasta and game-based main courses.
These scores confirm the quality and excellence that distinguish the production of Il Borro, enhancing the potential of the Valdarno di Sopra DOC territory.
