Today the small Tuscan village, born more than 1,000 years ago, is a place where artists, artisans and visitors share the beauty, style and quality of life that has made Tuscany a favorite destination for visitors from around the world. Inspired by the ancient trades that once existed even at Borro, local artisans such as the goldsmith, shoemaker and restorer have reopened their stores in the medieval village, carrying on their activities every day with love and expertise.
The Artisans of the Borro
The workshops that enliven the ancient medieval village open their doors to guests who have the privilege of seeing local artisans at work, engaged in the creation of fine manufactures. These include the Shoemaker, the Goldsmith, the Decorator, the Embroiderer, the Painter, and the Wool Weaver.

An enduring act of faith
Thirty years is a good time to look back and draw new strength to move forward. Like a scrapbook of memories, the present exhibition traces through the imaginative language of ancient engravings the path that led Ferruccio Ferragamo to shift his focus from Florence to the Valdarno countryside, finding in the medieval village of Il Borro not only a buen retiro for himself and his family but an ideal place for a new idea of enterprise. Ferruccio Ferragamo bought the estate in 1993, bringing it back to life, enhancing its history, memories and excellence.
Il Borro Concept
Born from Ferruccio Ferragamo’s vision and his love of the countryside, the Borro Concept collection of shoes, bags and accessories celebrates Italian savoir-faire and the Tuscan lifestyle; each product takes inspiration from the essential lines, timeless elegance, earth tones and authenticity of the estate. The collections of de Il Borro Concept combine contemporary design and versatility, creating a balance between the rustic charm of the Tuscan countryside and the timeless elegance of a medieval village.
The names of the shoes are inspired by the estate’s farms and the names of the bags evoke the suites of the Medieval village, solidifying the authentic link between the collection and the estate to best interpret the life style of the Borro
The Shop
Inside the Bottega it is possible to purchase the wines of Il Borro, extra virgin olive oil, organic honey and all products from the estate, as well as selected accessories and fragrances each season for guests.
